Rakshan Equipment`s is a premier cooling tower designer, manufacturer, and contractor providing Innovative Cooling Solutions for the satisfaction of customer needs in the power generation, industrial, refrigeration, and HVAC evaporative cooling markets. Rakshan Equipment`s offers new and replacement field erected cooling towers and a variety of field erected cooling tower parts and after market services.
Rakshan Equipment`s are LOW MAINTENANCE by design. Rakshan`s has carefully designed its products to have minimal maintenance issues. Other manufacturers of cooling towers have much more complicated designs to achieve the same performance. This includes many more parts – which are more potential maintenance and upkeep issues. One example is Rakshan`s Direct Drive Fan Systems which do not require the maintenance of other towers.

What is a Cooling Tower?:
Cooling Towers are a heat rejection device used for cooling water or other working medium to near the ambient wet-bulb air temperature. Cooling towers use evaporation of water to reject heat from processes such as cooling the circulating water used in oil refineries, chemical plants, power plants, steel mills and food processing.
A cooling tower extracts waste heat to the atmosphere though the cooling of a water stream to a lower temperature. The type of heat rejection in a cooling tower is termed "evaporative" in that it allows a small portion of the water being cooled to evaporate into a moving air stream to provide significant cooling to the rest of that water stream. The heat from the water stream transferred to the air stream raises the air`s temperature and its relative humidity to 100%, and this air is discharged to the atmosphere.

Few Definitions:
Tonne of Refrigeration:
Refrigeration effect to the melting of 1 tonne of ice in 24hrs. This can be expressed as follows: 288000 Btu / 24hrs. Or 12000 Btu / hr.
• Calorie:
The amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one gram of water by 1 degree Celsius.
• Range:
The difference in temperature of the hot water entering the cooling tower and the cold water Leaving the tower
• Approach:
The Difference between the temperature of the cold water leaving the tower and the wet bulb Temperature of the air entering the tower. Establishment of the approach fixes the operating Temperature of the tower and is a most important parameter in determining both tower size and cost
• Wet Bulb Temperature:
This is the lowest temperature water can be cooled by evaporation. Wet bulb temperature * is an Important parameter in the cooling tower selection and design.
• Make Up:
The amount of water required for replacing the evaporation, drifting and blowing down volume. The quality of makeup water should be with in the range specified.
• Drift
The water entrained in the air flow and discharged to the atmosphere. Drift loss does not include Water lost by evaporation. Proper tower design can minimize drift loss.
• Heat Load
The amount of heat to be removed from the circulating water within the tower. Heat load is Also an important parameter in determining tower size and cost.
• Pumping Head
The pressure required to pump the water from the tower basin, through the entire system and return to the top of the tower.
Types of cooling towers:
Structural Cooling Towers
Wooden Cooling Towers
Dry Cooling Towers
Natural Draft Cooling Towers
Evaporative Cooling Towers
